Frequently asked questions
Short reads or long reads — which do I need?
Short reads (Illumina) are cost-effective for variant calling and resequencing. Long reads (PacBio, Nanopore) give more complete assemblies of new genomes. Tell us your goal and we will advise.
How much DNA do I need?
See the sample requirements on this page. High-molecular-weight DNA is needed for long-read sequencing.
