Identification

Gene-specific sequencing

Read one gene or a small set of genes to identify an organism or check a sequence. This is the most common service for microbiology, fisheries, food and agriculture research, and for student theses.

Turnaround
TAT working days
Price
From BDT price per sample
Platforms
Sanger (capillary), Illumina for panels

What we offer

  • Bacterial identification (16S rRNA)
  • Fungus identification (ITS)
  • Animal or fish identification (DNA barcoding)
  • Identification of pure bacterial / fungal isolates
  • Microbial identification from culture
  • Targeted sequencing (Sanger based)
  • Targeted gene sequencing (amplicon-based, gene panels)
  • Targeted custom gene panels (Illumina)
  • Gene-specific sequencing of bacteria, viruses, fungi, yeasts, plants, fish and animals
  • Animal DNA isolation

Who it is for

Microbiologists, fisheries and food scientists, plant researchers and students who need an organism identified or a gene confirmed.

What you receive

  • Sequence files (AB1 chromatogram + FASTA) for Sanger
  • BLAST-based identification report for 16S / ITS / barcoding
  • Raw FASTQ data for NGS panels

Frequently asked questions

Can you identify my bacteria from a culture plate?

Yes. Send a pure culture or extracted DNA and we will sequence the 16S rRNA gene and identify it. Confirm accepted formats for cultures

Do I need to send my own primers?

Client: say whether universal primers (16S, ITS, COI) are included

How do I receive the results?

By email: sequence files and an identification report.
